Florida Statutes require that a permit be issued by the Tax Collector's Office prior to advertising or conducting a Fire or Going-Out-of-Business Sale. The cost of the permit is $50 and the maximum sale period is 60 consecutive days following the date of issuance of the permit.
A Going-Out-of-Business Sale is a sale advertised in such a manner as to reasonably cause the public to believe that once everything is sold the business will be closed permanently.
A Fire Sale is a sale advertised in such a manner as to reasonably cause the public to believe that the sale will offer goods damaged by fire, smoke, water or other disaster.
